Mercatox Update: Site down. They have $19 million of XRB in their node. No transaction since Dec. 29th.

But feel relieved, in a tweet they mentioned “all coins are safe.”

At first, their intelligent staff thought it was a DDOS issue, stating on their Twitter:

“Due to high overload of our system and attempts of DDos attacks we forced temporarily suspend website for upgrading our hardware and software. The service will be restored as soon as possible. All coins are SAFE! Sorry for inconvenience.” [email protected]

Now, they seemed to have figured out the issue, posting the following update.

And to put the icing on the cake, they have well over $19 million USD worth of XRB in their node. With their last withdrawal sent out the evening of December, 29th.
Personally, I don’t know what to believe. Raiblocks developers are apparently working with them on their problems. I do know, from their WHOIS data, that their domain is perfectly fine and does not expire anytime soon. So why would their domain be put on hold?
If they end up stealing all those coins, the future of XRB is at risk. It will blow up in the media as a disaster worse than MtGox. Many people will feel disenfranchised. Many people may even lose hope for Raiblocks.
Let’s get XRB on some better exchanges.
